Stevens is an award winning painter and signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society. I currently live in the historic district of Leesburg and maintain studio space at ArtSquare/Leesburg.I studied at Tyler School of Art/Temple University, majoring in metalsmithing.
I retired as a bench jeweler when I had children and switched my interests to painting in pastel after taking classes with Margot while still living in California. I am in love with the luscious color and immediacy of painting with pastel, although I have branched out into oil painting as well. I "keep my hand" in jewelry design by working with the colors and textures of various beads ( semi-precious, glass and clay) that I have collected in my travels.
I teach at Art Square, CREATIVE PASTELS, and seek my own further instruction through workshops with Albert Handel, Richard McKinley, Susan Sarback, Maggie Siner, and Robert Johnson. As a member of the Loudoun Sketch Club, I am allowed to paint on wonderful farm locations throughout Loudoun county...perhaps you will recognize certain vistas or invite me to paint on your farm!
