Little would I have guessed that
16 years ago my love for the outdoors would translate into an
art career. This career began after my first art class with local
artist Dodie Petro. Through her love for art and and her nurturing
influence, I began oil painting. Loudoun and surrounding counties
are so beautiful to paint and I began to enjoy our scenery through
painting out of doors. Presently and for the past 6 years, Penny
Hauffe has guided my art fancy and I am always ready to capture
my biking, hiking and sailing adventures on canvas.
During the Fall and Spring, you can
often locate me painting in the gardens at Oatlands. Painting
outdoors is relaxing and the best way for me to put on canvas
what my senses perceive. During the winter months, I find great
happiness painting countless hours in my Leesburg Home Studio.
Reflected in my work are scenes from
Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Montana, the Grand Tetons, South Rim of
the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Utah and the Red Rock Canyon,
Arizona.
My oil paintings are displayed in local collections and at Loudoun
Country Day School, where I substitute teach.
Some local art shows where my work was displayed are Oatlands,
Millwood, Bluemont Fall Festival, Leesburg Community Church, Loudoun
Country Day Family and Friends show, Highland School Spring Art
Show, Prudential Carruthers Realty, Hamilton, Virginia, Flora
and Fauna Art Franklin Park Show, WLAST 2010-2012
and King Street Coffee, Leesburg December 2012. I am formally trained as a nurse
and hold a B.S.N. from the University of Virginia and a M.S.N.
from the Medical College of Virginia.
