About the Artist
Antonia Walker has become known for her paintings of the light and color of the Virginia countryside as well as images of Italy and France. The artist received a BFA degree from the University of Georgia where she studied painting and printmaking and later attended graduate school at George Washington University when she studied with William Woodward in Brittany. Earlier while living in El Salvador, she studied drawing with Spanish sculptor, Benjamin Saul. Antonia has received a Visiting Artist Residency from the American Academy in Rome where she was provided a studio in which to work, once in 1998 and again in 2011. The artist has also taught oil and watercolor at ArtSquare, Lord Fairfax Community College, and in France, where she took a group of students to paint the landscapes of Provence. The artist's work has been represented in many collections including the Arts-in-Embassy program, the Wyndem Hotels, Johns Hopkins Hospital, the NASA Art collection, the Xerox Corporation, and the Lansdowne Resort. She has been commissioned to create work for the Journey through Hallowed Ground, the Waterford Foundation, the National Gallery of Art, the Washington Post, as well as Oatlands plantation. For many years Antonia worked as a book designer and illustrator at the National Academy of Sciences. The artist's work can be seen on her website and at the Susan Calloway Gallery in Washington DC, the Handwright Gallery in New Canaan CT, and at her studio in Waterford VA.

From Route 9 take Clarkes Gap Rd (Route 662) 3 miles to Waterford, turn left on Factory Street, right onto Second Street, go equivalent of 3 blocks to the studio, on the right side of street (two story gray building with parking beside).
