Growing up on the island of Trinidad in the Caribbean, I knew I was destined to become an artist. There, I was surrounded by the vibrant colors of tropical flowers, blue-green seas and the hypnotizing yellow-orange of a perfectly sun-ripened mango.
After moving to the US, I became fascinated with the changing seasons and looked forward to spring and summer when my beloved flowers would appear again. My garden is filled with carefully tended roses, many varieties of hibiscus and the most magnificent magenta bougainvillea bush. Beauty grows everywhere. It is so easy to fall in love with peonies and poppies just as much as hibiscus and ginger lilies.
My watercolors capture the lively, bright colors of the floral world. I have no formal training, so I approach the media intuitively with a lifelong love and passion. If I had to pick a few things to survive whilst stuck on a deserted island they would be a tube of opera rose, a sable brush, a watercolor sketchbook and of course, my husband Steve.
Offering on tour: Watercolors on canvas, paper (framed and unframed) and gicleée prints.
