Artist Statement

My work combines precious metals, polymer clay, stones, plastics, glass, or whatever object catches my eye. My designs are contemporary, combining both organic and geometric forms. I consider each one of my pieces a little piece of fine art. I like making pieces that are different and unique but still very wearable. The majority of my pieces are pendants, necklaces, and earrings, although I do occasionally make other items. In the past, my main focus was fabricating metals to create my designs. In 2004, I discovered a new medium called Precious Metal Clay®, which is comprised of either pure silver (fine silver), sterling silver, or 22K gold. This material has inspired many new works. I enjoy exploring this new medium and combining it with my other techniques and materials. In 2006, I received my PMC® (Precious Metal Clay®) Certification. I strive always to improve on my designs and skills and to make jewelry that is creative, unusual, elegant, and fun to wear.

Biography

Liz Hall began creating jewelry in college, at the Maryland Institute of Art. Her jewelry designs won scholarships and awards throughout her college years. After graduating in 1985, she and her husband, sculptor Jeff Hall, moved to Loudoun County, Virginia. Together they built Silverwood Farm & Studio. During this period, Liz took a hiatus from jewelry making to concentrate on their pinto sport horse breeding business, computer graphics, her daughter, and renovating their home and farm. Eventually, business gave way to an incredible yearning to get back to her roots of crafts and making jewelry. Her wearable art has garnered many awards since her return.
