Watercolor
has been my medium of choice for over 25 years…ever since
high school! I absolutely love its portability, transparent
qualities, and the many ways it can be combined with other
media. Many of my newest pieces this year combine the vibrancy
of liquid acrylics with watercolor, either on paper, Clayboard
or Aquabord. I’m excited about the direction this new combination
is taking me, and look forward to unveiling them to you during
the tour.
The source and inspiration for my work comes from thegift of God’s grace in our lives, and the magnificent beauty He created in nature, often hidden in the ordinary. Recurring images in my work include flowers, trees, autumn leaves, and a 33 ft tall metal cross that stands along Route 7 in Purcellville. I also paint wedding vow portraits—commissioned works that combine customized watercolor designs with wedding vows in calligraphy.
I’ve been teaching art to children, adults and fellow art teachers since 1997. I also work as an art therapist at adult day centers and assisted living facilities. As a teacher, I love collaborating with my students of all ages and ability levels on projects that bless others in our community. Our most recent community gift of art for a local nursing home was a collaboration of nearly 25 of my students, ages 4 to 90, and took 4 months to complete.
This is my second year on the WLAST tour. I’d like to thank Art Square in Leesburg for hosting me this year, particularly since my studio in Leesburg is being renovated this summer.
If you’d like to see more samples of my work, photos of
the community art projects, or my course offerings, please

the tour. I love what I do and would welcome an opportunity
to share it with you.
