About The Artist…
Janie Jones
interest in watercolor began when she took lessons from
Caroline Grosse Gawarecki in Falls Church. She became
"hooked" on the medium, read a lot of "how to" books, and
took a course in color from Joy Luke and an outdoor painting
class from Margaret Huddy. She's had several one-woman shows
at the Martha Washington Library in Fairfax County and has
had her paintings accepted at the Art League shows at the
Torpedo Factory in Alexandria. Since moving to Loudoun
County, she has taken classes with Antonia Walker, Elaine
Nunnally, Dean Drewyer, Arleta Pech, Kurt Schwartz, and is
currently studying with Trisha Adams.
In May and
June of 2000, she was the first artist selected to have a
one-woman show at the then new Senior Center in Cascades
Marketplace. In that same year, she was an illustrator for
the Hearth and Heritage Cookbook for Catoctin Presbyterian
Church in Waterford, Virginia.
Janie's
paintings are accepted at the Loudoun Sketch Club,
Burwell-Morgan Mill, Aldie Mill, and Oatlands shows, and at
the Waterford Fair Red Barn Exhibit. Her paintings have been
seen at the W.O.W Festival at Franklin Park in Purcellville,
at the Hamilton Town Office, and as part of the Arts in
Offices program. She and her works were also featured on
Channel 3's Artscape program. She is immediate past
president of the Loudoun Sketch Club and was featured in the
Loudoun section of the Washington Post on Sunday, September
10, 2006. |
