About
Hope Hanes is a pastel painter and Art teacher living near Hillsboro in western Loudoun County. Her process of creating art in the studio is experimental and varied. She also works outside (en plein air) whenever she has the chance. Travel inspires her work, and many of her landscape paintings depict scenes from her travels, especially to France. Hope’s work has earned her Signature Member status in the Maryland Pastel Society as well as Member of Excellence status in the Southeastern Pastel Society. Her award-winning paintings have been included in exhibits across the region, including in the Pastel Society of America (NY), Washington County Museum of Fine Arts (MD), Alexandria Art League Gallery (VA) and the Alpharetta Arts Center (GA). She was awarded Best Loudoun Artist by the Waterford Fair in 2015 and 2022. Hope is a co-founder and former Artistic Director of Round Hill Arts Center, and she was instrumental in the establishment of the Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour.
